SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING

ECOLOGICAL BUILDING MATERIALS

We use only the best building materials in our homes and Scandinavian wood is just that!

Wood is 100% a product of nature. It’s undoubtedly the most ecological and sustainable building material and using it distinctly reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The production of a wood home consumes less fossil fuels compared to other materials, and the wood waste that emerges as a side product can be further recycled for energy production.

WHY IS WOOD IS GOOD FOR YOUR WELL-BEING?

  • We spend as much as 90% of our time indoors, which makes indoor air quality especially important. Wooden frames absorb and give out humidity, balancing the indoor air humidity level throughout the year.

  • In a wood home you'll find it easier to breathe, you will feel better and in turn, be healthier.

  • Wood is an antiseptic and holds properties that help to prevent allergies and asthma.

  • A wood structure has great soothing properties for acoustics; it absorbs sounds and in turn, creates a calming & relaxing atmosphere.

  • Studies have shown that environments made from natural wood can lower your blood pressure and heart rate.

  • Living in a home built of natural wood helps to reduce your overall stress levels, similar to the benefits you recieve from taking a walk in the woods.

Advanced architectural solutions with modern non-settling log.

NON-SETTLING LOG

The non-settling log permits the use of a wide range of advanced architectural solutions and structural details, such as windows and doors without covering strips.

While the materials of a modern engineered log home may be more expensive than your traditional stick-frame home, the difference in price is compensated by the fact that no long-term maintenance to the logs is required and there is no need for post-construction adjustment of screw jacks, windows, doors, etc.

Standard non-settling logs are typically made with spruce or pine. Pluspuu uses white pine in the manufacturing of our 5-ply non-settling logs.

LOG HOME CORNERS

Pluspuu houses are available with the mitred corner joints. This joint construction with its narrow log seams makes it possible to build modern houses suitable for urban environments. As well as being fine and light in appearance, it also offers the best sealing performance. The logs are inter-connected using mitred dovetail joints. With mitred corner joints, the log layers are always aligned, eliminating the need for traditional overlapping joints.
